Jolie Uzelac

Ms. Uzelac is a litigation associate with the firm focusing her practice on defending businesses and insureds in complex civil litigation.

She was born in North Carolina at Fort Bragg, now known as Fort Liberty, and was raised in Cookeville, Tennessee, after her father retired from the Army. She earned her B.S. in Political Science with a concentration in Legal Studies from Tennessee Tech University in 2019. While attending undergrad, she competed in Model United Nations competitions and was a member of the Student Government Association’s Supreme Court where she served as the Chairman and worked directly with the Dean of Student’s Office for code of conduct violation proceedings.

Thereafter she graduated magna cum laude from Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law in 2022 and received the Abraham Lincoln Pro Bono Award for completing over 250 hours of pro bono work. During her time in law school, Ms. Uzelac volunteered at the East Tennessee Legal Aid Society working primarily in landlord tenant disputes and interned for Tennessee’s Sixteenth Judicial District’s Public Defender’s Office. Ms. Uzelac also had an article published in the European Legal Practice Integrated Studies Journal discussing the consequences of radicalized political discourse in American Society.

Prior to joining BKB, Ms. Uzelac served as the domestic violence prosecutor for Tennessee’s Thirteenth Judicial District where she worked tirelessly protecting and advocating for victims of domestic violence. Afterwards, she transitioned into civil litigation where she focused on defending workers compensation actions and other commercial litigation matters. In her free time, Ms. Uzelac enjoys hiking with her English Cream Golden Retriever, Bumblebee, attending concerts, traveling, and spending time with her family.
